Apple has recently unveiled its new iPhone models that are ready to upgrade. However, users always confront the threat of losing their important data while upgrading their smartphones. No worries! Here we have several options that can enable you to switch your data to a new iPhone device without making any puzzles or losses.
Transfer of data to a new/another iPhone
One can make the transfer of his essentials to any iPhone device either using the “Direct Transfer” method or an “iCloud/Mac” method. Let us separately understand these methods.
1. Direct Transfer Method
The Direct Transfer method can be easily held with the help of the Quick-Start option. This option is available for smartphones running over iOS 11 or newer. Further, the option requires a BlueTooth connection to the respective device.
Now follow the given below instructions:
- Switch on your new iPhone
- Being it near to your old iPhone device
- Let the Quick-Start option display on the screen
- A screen showing your Apple ID will appear. Confirm the ID and tap on Continue
- Follow the instructions appearing on the screen
Make sure that your both devices (old and new) remain near each other throughout the transferring process. Besides, the process might take a long while, therefore make the transfer only when your device is not in any other use.
2. iCloud/Mac method
For this method, the user has to make a new backup of all the data to the old device using iCloud. This can be done by navigating to Settings > iCloud > iCloud Backup > turning on the toggle. Similarly, Mac backup needs some steps to follow which can be read HERE.
Thereafter, the user needs to follow the on-screen instruction where they have to skip the “Quick-Start” option. Instead, they can select these two options:
- Restore from iCloud Backup
- Restore from Mac/PC Backup
As per the option, the user can either choose signing up or a USB cable for transferring the data into a new device. If in case, one needs to reset all the data from the old device, simply head to Settings > General > Transfer/Reset iPhone > Erase all Contents and Settings.
