So what is Android Auto? Android Auto is an app that allows you to connect your device to a car’s dashboard and then mirror a smartphone’s feature. Once it is connected to the car’s dashboard then the system can mirror apps such as GPS mapping and navigation, music playback, SMS, telephone, and Web search.
You can operate the system with both touchscreen and button controls or use voice commands for less distraction.
How to connect Android Auto:
USB cable:
Before you connect your phone for the first time, turn on your car. Make sure your car is in the parking and allow time to set up Android Auto before you start your drive.
- Step1: Plug a USB cable into your vehicle’s USB port and plug the other end of the cable into your Android phone.
- Step2: Your phone might ask you to download the Android Auto app or update to the newest version of the app.
- Step3: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
- Step4: Your phone’s Bluetooth has turned on automatically when Android Auto is connected to the car via USB.
- Step5: On your car display, select Android Auto. Follow the instructions to get started. Drive safely, Pay attention to the road and driving conditions, and always obey applicable laws.
Wireless:
Important: The first time you connect your phone to the car, you’re required to pair your phone and car via Bluetooth. For best results, keep Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Location Services turned on during setup. Make sure your car is in the parking and allow time to set up Android Auto before you start your drive.
