Google released Android 12 Beta 4: Bug fixes, developers are required to conduct compatibility tests

Google launched the Android 12 Beta 4 system update on August 11. This version marks the stability of the bottom layer of Android 12, and the API and App-oriented behavior have been determined. Therefore, developers can test application compatibility on this version. Future Beta and official versions will not change the adaptation.

Google now requires app and game developers to immediately test the compatibility and quality of apps on Android 12 Beta 4 and roll out updates as soon as possible before the final official version is released.

Android 12 Beta 4 The focus of this update is on stability optimization, and there are no major changes in functionality. But there are still some things to note:

Privacy dashboard: This feature in the settings allows users to see which applications are accessing which types of data, and the specific access time. Users can use this as a reference, adjust permissions as needed, and view detailed information.

Microphone and camera indicators: When the app accesses the microphone or camera, Android 12 will display a prompt message in the status bar.

Clipboard reading notification: When the App reads data from the clipboard, the system will prompt.

Excessive tensile rolling: the new “stretched” over-rolling effect (Stretch overscroll), replace the previous “glow” scrolling effect.

New application splash screen animation.

Keygen changes: Several deprecated BouncyCastle encryption algorithms have been removed in order to support the Conscrypt version. If the App uses a 512-bit key and AES encryption, you need to use one of the standards that support Conscrypt.

The Android 12 Beta 4 update also restricts back-end applications and cannot automatically start the front-end service. When the App requests location information, the user can manually choose to grant “precise location” or “fuzzy location”.

If some apps need to use alarms, they need to request a new permission “SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM”. For Webview, you need to use the new SameSite cookie behavior.

Regarding bug fixes, Android 12 Beta 4 fixes the problem that some missed call notifications cannot be turned off, fixes the problem that the system theme color does not apply to certain quick setting tiles, and fixes the problem that the quick setting tiles are dragged or rearranged. Fixed the issue that the alarm clock and mute icons were not displayed in the notification bar.
