Samsung is rolling out the May 2023 Android security update for the carrier-locked models of the Galaxy S21 series in the US. The latest firmware was earlier released for Verizon bounded variants and the company will now not take much time to expand the reach of the patch to the remaining carrier owners of the S21 lineup.
According to the information, the owners of Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra will be able to determine the May 2023 update via the One UI build version G991USQS6EWD5, G996USQS6EWD5, and G998USQS6EWD5 respectively. Also, make sure to maintain sufficient storage on the phone.
The May 2023 Android security patch has arrived with the aim to resolve some common bugs and glitches that may have been found in the system. Additionally, it further offers improved protection against dangerous threats, viruses, and other safety-related issues in order to keep the system safe and secure for prolonged use.
In addition, the firmware will also improve the core mechanism of the system and enhance the security and stability for a better user experience. Other than these common improvements there are no new features or major changes noticed in the log. Notably, the update is released for the 5G models on the Verizon network.
However, if you are operating a carrier-locked Galaxy S21 device in the US, then you can install the latest update manually on your device through Settings > Software Update > Download & Install. We recommend using an unmetered connection for uninterrupted downloading and also take a backup of all the important data.
