Huawei P40 getting new update with security improvements

Huawei P40 is one of the top offerings from the company that comes with a bunch of premium features including the latest EMUI 10.1. These smartphones have also received the latest EMUI 11 update.

As per the latest information, Huawei has now started sending the latest security improvements for the P40 series of smartphones. The new update installs the January 2021 security patch for improves system security and device stability.

The company has also launched the 4G variant of the Huawei P40 in China that comes with similar features as compared to the 5G variant despite the chipset which is Kirin 990. You can check all the specs of this handset here.

The update is rolling out for the following devices:

  • Huawei P40
  • Huawei P40 Pro
  • Huawei P40 Pro+

Software versions:

  • Huawei P40 series smartphones getting EMUI 11 version 11.0.0.170 upgraded from 11.0.0.168 in China.
  • Huawei P40 series smartphones getting EMUI 11 version 11.0.0.175 with an update of 206MB Asia Pacific.

It is worth mentioning that the update is currently rolling out in batches and it may take some time to reach your device. And if you have received the update on your smartphone then here are the steps to update.

How to update:

Download via Settings:

Open Settings > then click on System & updates. After opening a Software update, tap on Check for updates option. If the update is available to download then click Download and install. And after installation Reboot the device.

Download via Support app:

Open the Support app on your device and then go to the Service tab. Click on the Update button and then tap on Check for update option. If the update is available then click on Download and install. After installation Reboot the device.

  • January 2021 Security Patch Details: Installs security fixes for different levels of exploits and issues within Huawei phones including 4 critical, 1 medium, and 25 high levels of CVEs.
