Huawei officially announced the HarmonyOS 2 update on June 02, with a public beta program for 18 devices including the Mate 40 series. However, the Mate 40 series is eligible for the beta update ever since the release of the developer beta which began in December 2020.
As the Mate 40 is the company’s top-end smartphone series, its software should be well optimized and up to date with the latest update. The Mate 40 series devices are currently testing the latest features of the new HarmonyOS 2.0 and yet they will continue to receive new software builds.

Now, according to the latest info, Huawei released a new software update for the Mate 40 select participated models. The update comes with some optimizations for gaming and application processing. In addition, it also enhances the performance of games and application management.
The HarmonyOS 2.0 brings new functionalities for Huawei phones such as a new home screen, lock screen, HarmonyOS fonts, smart share, smart home connection, and more.
