Huawei is sending a new software update to Huawei Mate 20 users with May 2021 security patch for improved system security and to bring stability to the device for enhanced user experience. The Mate 20 of Huawei has its own fanbase and it was the company’s best-selling lineup.
Looking at the good response of users towards the series, Huawei is also taking its very well care by providing regular security updates. It was announced with EMUI 9.1 pre-installed and currently working on the latest EMUI 11.

Even, the Mate 20 device is also getting the HarmonyOS 2 beta updates in China and the global users will soon follow. Meanwhile, currently, it’s getting the security update for the devices running EMUI 11 for global users.
Besides the security patch, the update also installs some necessary apps and comes with a hefty size of 1.2GB. Anyways, users can identify it with EMUI 11 version 11.0.0.158 (C432E4R1P4) on their Mate 20 devices. The update is rolling out for both Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro.

May 2021 security patch details: This security update fixes different levels of exploits and issues including 3 critical, 10 high, and 4 medium levels of CVE for improved system security.

- The firmware adds the following apps: Petal Search, Reader, Petal Maps, Member Center, Game Center, and Link Now.
Note: The update is rolling out in batches so it may take some time to reach your device. Also, its EMUI version and the size of the package may vary. Do remember to maintain enough battery on your device before installing.
How to check for updates?
Via Settings
- You can update your device via Settings
- Then navigate to System & updates >> Software updates >> Check for updates
- Lastly (If the update appears) then click on Download and install
- After installation restarts the device to optimize the applications
Via Support app:
- This is an alternate method to download the update on Huawei devices through Support app
- For that go to Service tab > Update > Download and install > and then finally Install
