Apple has recently released the latest iOS 17 beta update which contains a new feature where Siri notifies you about ‘Conversation Awareness’ on activating it for the first time. It is useful as people often get confused about why the volume of their AirPods has suddenly reduced, without any specific notification.
The addition is regarding the Adaptive Audio functionality for earbuds. Notably, this function has three separate features that aim to adjust the volume of your AirPods as well as noise-cancellation settings as per the scenario.
Consequently, the three features are:
- Adaptive Noise Control – adjusts noise-cancellation levels to ambient noise levels
- Personalized Volume – adjusts the volume as you switch between noisy and quiet environments
- Conversation Awareness – Turn down the volume and engage transparency mode when you talk
These features automatically turn on when they are in need. Although this automation often leads to confusion. Thanks to Apple iOS 17 Beta 7, Siri now explains about the Conversation Awareness before turning it on. As of now, it will read:
“Just so you know, AirPods lowered the volume due to Conversation Awareness.”
