January 2024 Google Play System Update brings more control over photo and video permissions
Google is rolling out a new January 2024 Play System Update for Android 14 devices, which gives users more control over photo and video permissions. Yes, the latest release brings a new feature or we can say a button in settings that lets you reselect which photos or videos they want to grant access to an app.
Android 14 brings a feature called Selected Photos Access which lets you grant apps partial access to your photos and videos. It means instead of giving an app access to your entire gallery, the feature helps users to manually select which media items including photos, and videos you want to grant the app access.
This adds an extra layer of privacy and security to your media, but, some apps may not recognize when they have been granted partial access to media items, and may not offer the user an option to select more items later. And here is how the latest edition of reselecting a photo or video works.
The January 2024 Google Play System Update adds a new button in the settings of Android 14 devices that lets users reselect which photos and videos they want to grant access to an app. However, users can access this button from Settings > Security & Privacy > Permission Manager> Photos and videos > Now, tap the pencil icon next to “ask every time” to reselect items.
