Galaxy S20 series getting the August 2020 security patch in the US

After the international variants, the August 2020 Android security patch is now rolling out to the unlocked and locked (T-Mobile) Galaxy S20 series in the US. The software versions are G981U1UES1ATG3, G986U1UES1ATG3, and G988U1UES1ATG3 for the unlocked Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra respectively.

The software versions are G981USQU1ATGL, G986USQU1ATGL, and G988USQU1ATGL for the T-Mobile’s Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra respectively.

To update the version on your device, you will need to have a minimum battery charge of 20%. You may be prompted to update when it’s available, otherwise, system updates can be done over a Wi-Fi connection or with the Software Upgrade Assistant.

To manually check for updates, navigate to Settings > System update. If your system is up-to-date, you don’t need to do anything further. Otherwise, tap Download and install to update your phone.

Samsung Galaxy S20 series is getting a new software update

Just 3 days ago, Samsung released a new software update for the Galaxy S20 series (check below for more details), but a new software update is already here for the Galaxy S20 series. The latest update comes with the July 2020 security patch.

This is 2nd software update with the July 2020 security patch, no new improvements or features included. The last software update for the Galaxy S20 series (International variants) brought camera improvements.

The software versions are G981BXXU3ATG4, G986BXXU3ATG4, and G988BXXU3ATG4 for the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra respectively.

As reported, the latest update seems to have changed is the service provider code, suggesting some network-related improvements are included.

Verizon is rolling out the July 2020 security patch to the Galaxy S20 series. The software version of the Galaxy S20 5G UW is G981VSQU1ATFG, while the software versions of the Galaxy S20+ and the Galaxy S20 Ultra are G986USQU1ATFG and G988USQU1ATFG, respectively.

Samsung Galaxy S20 series is already getting July 2020 security patch with camera improvements and more

Samsung is now rolling out a new software update to the Galaxy S20 series. The latest update comes with the July 2020 security patch. It also improves camera performance with better high-magnification (zoom) shots. The video stabilization is now better.

It also adds a new option which lets you use Bluetooth microphones while recording audio using the Voice Recording app. In addition, it ends support for MirrorLink. This update is currently rolling out in South Korea but should soon be available to other markets.

The software version of this update is G981NKSU1ATFD, G986NKSU1ATFD, and G988NKSU1ATFD for the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra respectively. The size of this update is nearly 400MB.

Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint released the June 2020 security patch

Samsung Galaxy S20 series is now receiving the June 2020 security patch in the US. It is available for the carrier-locked devices – T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon.

On the Verizon carrier, the Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra are receiving both May and June patches along with system and performance improvements/enhancements. The software versions are G986USQU1ATEC and G988USQU1ATEC for the Galaxy S20+ and S20 Ultra respectively.

While the T-Moble and Sprint are only getting the latest June 2020 security update. The software versions are G981USQU1ATF9, G986USQU1ATF9, and G988USQU1ATF9 for the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra respectively.

Galaxy S20 series is getting a new software update with new close-up zoom options and June 2020 security patch

Samsung Galaxy S20 series is getting a new software update in the Nordic countries. It comes with new camera zoom options and the June 2020 security patch. This is a second software update for the Galaxy S20 series this month.

The software version is G981BXXU2ATF5, G986BXXU2ATF5, and G988BXXU2ATF5 for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra respectively.

According to Sammobile, this update “changes the way close-up zoom functions by enabling 2x zoom instead of 1.5x zoom. Furthermore, the Use close-up zoom pop-up text has been changed to read Tap here, then back up a bit for better focus. It should make the function’s purpose a little bit clearer.”

A new software update fixes the camera autofocus issue on the Galaxy S20

If you are using the Galaxy S20, S20+, or S20 Ultra, you probably facing the close autofocus problem. Samsung rolled out several camera-focused software updates to fix that auto-focus issue but didn’t get it done. Well, there’s a new software update available with a fix for the camera focus issue.

To be specific about the camera improvements, the update adds the Close-up Zoom option (only for the S20 Ultra), which can be useful while taking closer images.

In addition, the company has improved the performance of the fingerprint recognition and sound quality of the speaker. Based on the Galaxy S20 users report on Reddit, the device can now take better image quality using Night mode. It comes with the May 2020 security patch. The latest update also adds an option to disable the Fingerprint animation in the Fingerprint settings menu.
