On January 17, 2024, at the Galaxy Unpacked Event, Samsung officially launched Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra devices which will get major upgrades and security patches till 2031. Yes, with this vast move, Samsung is trying to offer Galaxy device owners Pixel and iPhone device-like software support.
Samsung Mobile President TM Roh announced at the beginning of Unpacked that, all three models of the Galaxy S24 series will get 7 years of Android and One UI software updates. It means the devices will get major upgrades up to Android 21 and regular software updates with security improvements until January 2031.
This upgraded software support decision marks a big move as the Korean tech giant now joins Apple and Google in the journey to offer 7 years of upgrades. Hence, the Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra come pre-installed with Android 14-based One UI 6.1 and will continue to receive upgrades till 2031.
