Samsung has shipped its latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 with an impressive 7 years of Android update support. This move follows Samsung’s promise to provide extended software support for its flagship devices.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 came pre-installed with Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1. However, this support of 7 years of Android and the security update will make the devices receive updates up to Android 21 and One UI 13.
Notably, this extended support is a significant upgrade over the previous 4-year update policy for Samsung’s foldable devices. Also, the Android 15-based One UI 7 will be the first major update of Galaxy Z Fold 6. and Flip 6.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a 7.6-inch screen, a large cover display, and a new design with straight edges. While, Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow, a 6.7-inch folding display, and a boxier design with an all-matte finish.
Both the foldables are powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor for Galaxy and come with better AI capabilities, including a new Sketch to Image feature, on-screen Gemini suggestions, and support for Circle to Search.
