Samsung‘s different devices have started getting the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 / One UI 3.1 update. However, the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 models are not eligible to get this major platform update as they have already completed their Android upgrade lifecycle.
However, the OEM is committed to sending regular security updates for Galaxy S9 and Note 9 until 4 years of their launch date. Fulfilling its promise, Samsung has already rolled out the latest security update for the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 units. And now, Verizon bounded Galaxy S9 phones getting the new security patches in the US.

The Verizon locked Galaxy S9 series owners can identify this new update with build versions: G960USQS9FUA2 and G965USQS9FUA2 for the Galaxy S9 and S9+ respectively. It installs the January 2021 security patch for better device security as well as fixes some bugs for a better user experience.
